Smart agriculture in China

In China, although there is no way to trace back to who is the first one to propose the concept of smart agriculture or digital agriculture, but from the indications, smart agricultural machinery has made great development and breakthroughs in China, but in general it is still in the R&D stage. There are few intelligent machines , still in ow intelligence. The core components rely heavily on foreign brands, and there is still a big gap with developed countries. As far as domestic agricultural robots are concerned, they have a late start, weak foundation, small investment scale, and slow development speed. From the just China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, our agricultural robots are still in the theoretical research or sample stage, which is far from practical application. There are many problems to be solved. Compared with developed countries, there is a big gap in reliability, precision control and efficiency.

In the past two years, in the development of big-horsepower tractors and large-scale harvesting machinery, domestic enterprises have begun to boldly absorb the most advanced technology in terms of localization, introduce intelligent control technology, and provide farmers with the greatest convenience and highest efficiency. Sugarcane harvesting is relatively difficult. The regions are mainly concentrated in Guangxi, Yunnan, Guangdong, and Hainan. In the past, farmers from these areas would bring in farmers from Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and other areas to help us harvest sugarcane. However, due to the impact of the Covid19 epidemic in the past two years, China measures to control the migrant population have caused a serious shortage of labor for sugarcane harvesting. In terms of localization, the sugarcane harvester developed by Zoomlion, while boldly introducing Western high-tech, gradually realized the localization of core components, and successfully tried the localization, which not only reduced the cost, but also promoted the localization. Upgrade of domestic core Hydraulic Parts and power system.

In recent years, in the Chinese market, the market for small-horsepower tractors has been relatively slow, and the market for big-horsepower tractors has been growing. In the past,big-horsepower tractors mainly relied on imports of foreign brands. In the past two years, domestic tractor companies have only begun to develop big-horsepower tractors, but they have yet to be further verified by the market.

In the parts and components industry, domestic brands have made relatively slow progress in advancing digital intelligence. At the 26th Asian International Power Transmission and Control Technology Exhibition that just ended in October, most of the products on display were still at the 2.0 level, and there were almost no signs of 4.0. The domestic high-end market of hydraulic components is still dominated by foreign brands, Hydraulic Valve, pumps and motors .Although the localization of core components is a trend, it takes time. On the one hand, the quality of Chinese brands needs to be fully used and verified in the market. On the other hand, Chinese OEMs need to be bolder to further accelerate the pace of localization.

In terms of smart agriculture, Zoomlion integrates global technical resources, integrates the characteristics of Chinese agronomic conditions, develops and promotes “smart agriculture” equipment and solutions with Chinese characteristics, and is a pioneer in the development of “smart agriculture” in Chinese agricultural machinery equipment industry.

Zoomlion Smart Agriculture integrates geographic information system, global positioning system, sensing technology, remote sensing technology, communication technology, IT technology and computer automatic control technology, etc., comprehensively applied to the field of agricultural production to achieve precision planting in agricultural production , Visual management and intelligent decision-making.

Zoomlion adopts laser-controlled leveling technology to level the land to an accuracy of 2 cm, increase land utilization rate by 3-7%, rationally use water resources, and reduce water consumption and irrigation time by 30%-50%. Using soil testing and formula fertilization technology, zone control and variable application control technology, the intelligent and accurate land leveling, variable seeding, fertilization, irrigation and other production processes are completed. Avoid repeated stocking and misoperation, planting more than 5%, and seeding accuracy up to 2cm. Through crop monitoring solutions, based on satellite and aerial imagery, to analyze the growth of crops and pests and diseases. Through the application of new technologies, the traditional agricultural production and operation mode will be changed, and the production efficiency and profitability will be improved.

Zoomlion has given a good start to the implementation of China’s smart agriculture, but it is still a long way to go to promote the digitalization of China’s current agriculture. To collect information about the climate, such as humidity, temperature, soil, diseases and insect pests, etc., requires huge investment and government support, and requires a lot of manpower, financial resources and material support. At present, the Qidong Optoelectronic Remote Sensing Center of Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences has been approved by the Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province. It plans to use the remote sensing mapping technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to carry out corresponding climate and soil data collection in Jiangsu. Over time, such big data will be used in modern smart agriculture.
